Simple Theater
Effective 14 September 2026
The short version. Simple Theater has no account system and no server of its own. It talks to exactly two places: Plex's sign-in service, so you can sign in with your Plex account, and the Plex Media Servers you own or that were shared with you. Nothing about you or your libraries is sent to Arosemena Apps. There are no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking.
| Where | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| plex.tv (Plex's sign-in and account service) | A sign-in request you complete in your browser; afterwards, the resulting access token, and a device identifier and name so Plex can list this device in your account | Signing in and finding your servers |
| Your Plex Media Server(s) | Your Plex access token, requests for library listings, artwork, and media; your playback position and play state; downloads you start | Browsing and playing your libraries and keeping your watch state in your Plex account |
| Apple | Optional tips go through the App Store like any other in-app purchase | Supporting the developer; nothing is unlocked |
Plex's handling of your account and of your servers is governed by Plex's own privacy policy. Simple Theater is not affiliated with Plex.
Everything below stays on your iPhone or iPad, in the app's own protected storage.
| Information | Why the app has it |
|---|---|
| Your Plex access token and per-server tokens | Staying signed in; stored in the iOS Keychain |
| The list of your servers and libraries, and a small cache of artwork | Faster launch and browsing |
| Your choices: hidden libraries, library order, last server, playback settings | Remembering how you set the app up, per Plex profile |
| Downloaded media and its metadata, if you use downloads | Offline playback; tagged with the account and profile that downloaded it |
| Watch events waiting to be reported while you are offline | So your progress reaches your server later |
| A small local diagnostics log with no titles, addresses, or credentials | Only for a diagnostics export you choose to send |
Downloaded media is excluded from iCloud and iTunes backups. Signing out removes the tokens; downloaded files are removed only when you choose to remove them.
Simple Theater is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect anything from anyone. What a Plex Home profile can see is decided by Plex's own restrictions on your server.
If this policy changes, the new version is published at this address with a new effective date.
